Huskies thriving, surviving - and advancing

Sun, 02/05/2012 - 01:09
SEATTLE - I noticed that on March 3rd, the first 2000 USC fans that show up for their season-ending game versus WSU will receive a Maurice Jones Bobblehead. For not much more, they could probably give out a life-sized version of the real thing. I kid, of course, but when USC has to pin all its hopes on a 5-foot-7 sophomore guard, life isn't going to plan in Kevin O'Neill's universe.

SEATTLE - Dawgman.com's Kim Grinolds was at Alaska Airlines Arena Saturday night as Washington dismantled the USC Trojans 69-41 to win their fourth conference game in a row, and ninth overall in league play. Here's his photo gallery of the game.

Huskies mature while winning ugly

Sun, 02/05/2012 - 00:52
SEATTLE – Three parties failed to show up Saturday night to the USC-Washington basketball game - the referees, the scoreboard - and especially the Trojans.  USC only managed 41 points, the refs spent more time at the scorer’s table instead of letting the game flow, and the hanging jumbotron at center court was mostly out of commission.

SEATTLE - Here are highlights of Washington's blowout 69-41 win over USC Saturday night at Alaska Airlines Arena in front of 9948 fans. The 41 points scored by the Trojans was the lowest conference total since the Huskies held Oregon State to 40 points on February 10, 1996.

Cougs' Culver Connection Rekindled

Fri, 02/03/2012 - 10:45
THE CULVER CONNECTION to Washington State football may not be as storied as the old Compton Connection of the 1980s or the Curtis (High) Connection of the 1990s. But it's just as real, and Wednesday when WSU’s new class of recruits officially was unveiled the Cougs’ pipeline from Culver City received a jumbo-sized booster shot in the form of Alex Jackson and Khalil Pettway.

Jacobs Makes Grandma Happy With OSU Choice

Fri, 02/03/2012 - 05:35
Seth Jacobs was the last recruit to make his decision to sign with Oklahoma State. But he sure knows how to make an entrance as he arrived at the gym at Arroyo Grande for his signing ceremony Wednesday night wearing a nice neatly pressed dark suit and a diamond design tie.

Ross wills Huskies to key win

Thu, 02/02/2012 - 23:33
SEATTLE - Hec Edmundson must have cursed Ben Howland. Even with his top teams, Howland has not won in Hec's building since 2004.  With 6:02 remaining in the game, the Bruins were on the verge of putting that curse to bed, as the Huskies seemed left for dead, down 65-55 and without any sort of momentum.

Home court advantage plays huge for UW

Thu, 02/02/2012 - 23:05
SEATTLE - The fans cheered, came up off their seats, and never sat down. ALL OF THEM. During Washington's 71-69 win Thursday night over UCLA, the Huskies' fans decided they could really make a difference. And when UW showed they were capable of clawing back from a 10-point deficit late in the game, the fans threw them a bone in the form of a thunderous noise that never backed off.
