Head Coach Steve Sarkisian and starting linebacker Mason Foster spoke about the conference, the move toward greater publicity for left coast football, the need for the Huskies to play in Los Angeles every year, and Jake Locker's decision to stay for his final year of school.

When Josh Shirley unexpectedly fell into the Huskies’ lap, I sighed with relief because he filled a hole for the 2010 class when Chris Young enrolled at Arizona Western College. I watched Young play at Auburn High School and was really impressed with his physical play as both a runner and defender. He was a solid 6-foot-1 or so and at least 215 pounds, and he looked like a beast in high school.

The defensive line is in as good a shape as it's been in some time, yet there are plenty of spots open for competition and youth continues to be a yearly theme. It's a scary thought for UW Defensive Coordinator Nick Holt, as he was hoping his recruiting effort for the 2009 and 2010 recruiting classes would pay some dividends this year - and they might. But not as well as it could have been.
